GrowFX is a plug-in for Autodesk® 3ds Max® created by ExLevel, to create parametric plants, trees, flowers and other nature models. You can build your models in a parametric form, with multiple parametes for spice, age, grow direction, wind and animation.
Plug-in for use with 3ds Max from 9 to 2013 (32/64-bits) or 3ds Max Design 2009 to 2013 (32/64-bits).
Grass and Woodlands
One GrowFX object can be used for create a single plant or groups of plants. You can do it distributing either from start points or by a surface. Maps are used to control the distribution parameters as plant density, weight, etc.
Animation
You can animate almost all parameters and create plant animations: growth, wind, shape, etc. It's possible to use the Affects mecanishm to get specific parametes to influence others, so you don't have to configure all animation by hand.
Custom Geometry parts
GrowFX offers a mesh builder called Instanced geometry. It allows using any geometric objects an even entire custom geometry hierarchies to create leaves, flowers, fruit and many others objects that may be required for a plant. Besides, you can use animation on these objects to show stages of their growth, distributing them over the main plant. By creating only one geometric shape of a leaf, you can make it follow the wing movement or make leaves looks unique thanks to chaotic directions.
Climbing and trailing plants
The direction modifier called Object reaction direction allows you to create a variety of climbing and trailing plants by using path reaction to other objects. Moreover, reactions can help you to create plants growing around different obstacles or warp plants in closed spaces.
Topiary Pruning
The direction modifier Object slice direction allows you to create pruned plants with any shape. Use standard helper objects provided in Exlevel category as plane, box, sphere as well any custom shape taken from any geometry objecy of the scene.

Shape Control
GrowFx allows users to specify any shape for stems and branches. This can be achiveved using splines with the Spline direction modifier. You also can use interpolation between splines to create smooth transitions between splines.
Fast viewport speed
GrowFX allows you to preview complex plant geometries using a special visualization mode called View line only. In this mode the plants are skeched in the viewport using simple lines. You can define the detail of the visualization in the viewport using the Percentage of Paths to speed up even more.
