The new Update Manager brings more freedom to how and where you store your ITOOSOFT libraries. Whether you’re working solo or as part of a studio, you can now set up the Assets and Packages Cache folders exactly where you need them, on a local drive or shared network location.
Install libraries anywhere
You now have complete control over where the built-in libraries are stored. The Assets folder, which contains downloaded content like presets, materials, and maps, can be redirected to any local path or shared network drive.
To make things clearer, the old Network Shared Folder option has been renamed Packages Cache Folder, reflecting its role as a shared cache where downloaded packages are stored. This helps reduce bandwidth use and ensures everyone in your team works with the same content.
And because reliability matters, Update Manager now handles installation cancellations more gracefully for a smoother experience.
How to choose a new location
Changing the library storage location takes just a few clicks:
- Open Update Manager.
- Go to File → Preferences…
- Under the General tab, find the Assets Location field.
- Click Select Folder and choose your desired path, local or network.
- Click OK to save your changes.
From now on, all downloaded assets will be stored in your chosen location, whether that’s a fast local SSD or a shared studio server.
Included automatically
You don’t need to download anything separately. Update Manager 1.6.3 is included with the latest RailClone 7.1.4 and ForestPack 9.3.3 installers. Simply update either plugin, and your Update Manager will be refreshed automatically.
